2016 is the year that keeps on giving in this regard, is it not?
I was away last night for work so I woke in my hotel room to the news that Donald Trump is to be president of the US. It seems extraordinary that the people who gave us 8 years of Barack Obama have now given us Donald Trump.
In other current affairs news, the Princess, who confidently expected her teachers to be on strike for weeks, was gutted when we got a text message at 9.30 last night saying that the school was reopening today. She is still readjusting to the new reality. Aren’t we all?
Christina says
Indeed we are. I am finding it rather difficult.
belgianwaffle says
I’m not surprised.
Henry says
unconscionable
belgianwaffle says
I know.
Nichole says
I’m still in shock.
Charles Lock says
I do not think Clinton is anyone’s knight in shining armour. Look on the bright side, Brexit and Trump have got those whose vested interest is to make money on the status quo on the back foot. Most Americans I have met, and I lived in Alabama as a boy for three years, are decent and kind people, trump’s ability to do anything really nasty is limited by Congress and the Senate, neither of which are spineless. Enjoy the discomfiture of the political classes safe in the knowledge that most Americans are very nearly as nice as you. Far nicer than me.
belgianwaffle says
As are we all Nichole.
I hope that you are right about the Americans, Charles. I used to think that they were all much nicer and far more polite than me but now I am not so sure. Fingers crossed, I suppose.
