The boys had some bug over the weekend which they transmitted to their sister. Daniel was sick regularly, Michael occasionally and the Princess once. Daniel took us by surprise, vomiting for the first time on Saturday at lunch time. We rushed to comfort him and change him and remove our own vomit covered clothes. We returned to find Michael happily splashing about in the pool of vomit on the floor while the Princess looked on in profound disapproval. The washing needed to keep pace with three vomiting children is phenomenal. This was why when I heard a choking sound while holding Daniel in our bed, I spun him round to spare the sheets and managed to get vomit on the mirror, the wardrobe the walls and the door. All wipe clean surfaces you will note. As of Monday morning, the waterfall of vomit seemed to have ended. Although poor Michael, got sick in his sleep on Sunday night and when we got him from his cot on Monday morning, he was cold and clammy which, obviously, will help him recover from his hacking cough. No vomiting all day Monday but on Monday evening Daniel got sick (once) as did Michael (twice) and Mr. Waffle (once). Today only Daniel got sick (twice). Could it be that matters are improving?

you have the fortitude of an ox. i would be under the bed right now. but i admire your skill at facing the vomiting child away from the soft goods. hope all are on the mend. xo

Ooh. That sounds so grim – you have my utmost sympathy. I’ve found that putting towells on armchairs and sofas quite useful in these situations.
I hope the bug doesn’t come your way – how will everyone cope?

I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now, waffley, and it seems like Belgium has far more than its fair share of puke-type bugs.
I think you should move.

Pog, I was thinking the same.
Its the smell that upsets me- I can change a thousand stinky nappies but child-vomit is awesomely vile. My utmost sympathy.
On a slightly different note, I am so relieved I want to share with you some good news!! I hold you responsible as the comment was on your blog and so I am eternally greatful. Someone placed a comment about getting babies to sleep through the night by offering them water instead of milk. Well, I remembered this, and in a fit of desperation, offered a dummy instead of milk or water and- gulp- we’ve had 5 nights without milk, only the occasional stirring and one complete sleep through!! Of course Ezra has taken to climbing in with us during the night but I ignore him and he falls asleep so I don’t care. Its such a revelation to get a decent nights sleep. I can actually see without blurred vision. I hope it lasts a few more nights before the teething/illness/growth spurts/wet beds begin again xx
